15-Min Virtual Consultation with Nurse Practitioner
After you have your cosmetic surgery, one of the most important things you can do is attend a virtual postoperative consultation with your nurse practioner. During this consultation, your nurse practioner will go over the surgical process with you and explain what to expect in the days and weeks following your surgery. As a result, patients who are at risk for fibrosis should consider adding massages to their post-operative care plan.
A postoperative drain is a tube that is inserted into the body during surgery to remove fluid or blood. The drain is usually placed in the area of the incision and is connected to a negative pressure device, which helps to suction out the fluid. Once the surgeon feels that enough fluid has been removed, the drain will be removed. The process of removing a postoperative drain is typically quick and painless. The tape is applied and helps to support the skin and underlying tissue. This can help to reduce swelling and bruising, and speed up the healing process. The tape is typically worn for 3-5 days after surgery, and then removed by a medical professional.
